Are you thinking about joining the Lancaster County Civil War Living History Association?
We always welcome new recruits into our corps of civilian and military reenactors. We pride ourselves on our research-based authenticity, enthusiasm for the hobby, and ability to have fun with history. The Lancaster County Civil War Living History Association is largely based out of Lancaster County--with meetings held in West Hempfield Township--but some members live in neighboring states and have reputations for making monthly two or three hour drives to attend our meetings. An wide variety of events dot our schedule, and we invite you to come out to meet us. If you contact one of us beforehand, we'll be sure to make your acquaintance. Also, feel free to come to one of our meetings. Again, if you contact us ahead of time, we'll be sure to make your visit informative and worth your while.
For potential civilian reenactors (keep in mind you can reenact both military and civilian), we welcome men, women, and children of all ages. Veteran reenactors will gladly assist and advise you as you begin reenacting--and maybe even loan you items for your first events. The LCCWLHA is one of the best units around when it comes to members conducting their own research and sharing that research.
For potential military reenactors, we welcome males ages 16 and above to serve in the recreated Union Guards. Age exemptions may apply for musicians based on the by-laws and the discretion of the military commander. We are one of the best-drilled units in the hobby, have a great sense of humor, and participate in all sorts of events from the small and local to the mega and national. Veteran military reenactors would be glad to advise you as you form your reenacting wardrobe (to help avoid the many "rookie" reenactor purchasing mistakes), and a complete "loaner" set is owned by the unit to help allay the cost of reenacting.
Please contact the names listed above with any questions or comments, and we hope to see you soon!
